What Does Freedom Mean? Define your life blueprint

Freedom means a lot of different things to different people. To me, freedom was earned from the sacrifices of society. While we may have forgotten, we lost a lot for that freedom (I have met so many vets and regular people who have given up much for that freedom.).

Many people have come before who stood for freedom, got knocked down, got up, got knocked down again, got up each time to smile defiantly at those who mock that freedom. They may even have done that many times throughout their life (Maybe missing a tooth or two but they were still there.👆).

As you move through your life and navigate changes in the weather, remember we all part of the crew that keeps this vessel seaworthy from generation to generation. Back to our beginning as a  nation, and before, each generation had its own challenges, we had ours and you have and will have your own.

We are free because we still believe in that freedom and the obligations we have to each other.  Be kind, considerate, and care about each other. In other words, be the best person you can and bear the fruit of the best that freedom can offer.

Your job is to be the best crewman/woman you can and max out your skills and life ability for a more noble purpose beyond oneself (You have to write your life blueprint. How can you contribute to your community and our society? Volunteering, getting involved, learning a new skill, going to school, hitting to the gym, be the best you can be, investing in our nation, starting a business, starting a charity, self improvement, being inclusive, whatever that blueprint is, you have to go find it. Each of us have a role and purpose in this life. The first stage of your life is to go find it and learn the skills that help you succeed once you do find it. The second stage is to maximize its utility and the third stage is to give it back for the next generation. When you get to the third stage, give back to ensure the compass always points north. Teach the young the wisdom you have learned. Intelligent Adaptivity of Wisdom)

The video gives you somewhat of a philosophical perspective on liberty which takes into account collective obligation driven freedom.

Escanaba City Council Meeting (March 07, 2024): Water, Zoning, Trees and Helping an Autistic Child

The most important topics that came out of this meeting wasn't the water expenditures, or the clearing of trees, but the willingness of government to give individual consideration to local citizens.

It is often the little human-to-human exchanges that make up a nation and many times seem removed from big government decision making. Here in Escanaba, people care about each other and they seek to help where they can.

Those differences include working with stakeholders to sell a business through taking the individual time to research zoning or putting up special signs for an autistic child. 💓 What is Autism?

This individual consideration, along with geography and skill of local human capital, is one of the primary reasons why companies should invest in the area. It benefits the companies and the people.

Can you imaging the long term benefits of government and people working together? How Does Good Governance Relate to Quality of Life?

Batman and Public Choice Theory: A culture of corruption.

If you know me I'm very much against corruption and believe we should encourage a higher value system. I believe that when we act ethically in the best interest of society we will all collectively gain. When we break the laws or circumvent them for ideological, social, racial, religious or financial gain we are working against the grain of the common good and stated oaths and values. We all have a responsibility in doing the right thing and those that don't are not on the same team as the rest of society.

Report corruption a do so widely when it occurs.

Training Stipend for Firefighters Amid Recruiting Difficulties

It takes a lot of effort to be a firefighter. There is training and regular commitment to the department. While I have seen some great departments in the U.P. that have lots of interest that is not the case in other places. The cost of training is high and call volumes are rising amid other department declining budgets. This $500 to $1000 stipend might be helpful to Michigan if departments are struggling to recruit.

Delta County Commissioner (March 5th, 2024): Veterans, Parks and Airports

No point in going into specific depth because you can watch it yourself. I think there must be some cat nip in the salt n pepper shakers or something. Despite the verbal jostling there was some discussion on veterans which is great and on some concerns. Could potentially be an issue of mismanagement but one cannot say for sure unless an official investigation occurs.

-Lady feels that she wants to take care of elder veterans and feels they should hire someone to help. (How to thank a veteran.)

-Gentleman want to ensure everyone make decisions for the community.

-Training and development.

-Veterans Health Admin bring package forward. Millage to fund veterans.

-A new park area with some discussion on wetlands. Pavilion and parking lot.

-Conservation approvals to work projects. Complaint against discrimination of the county as land owner.

-Concerns on confidentiality. Commotion.

-Voting cost.

-Referral to FAA based on investigation findings. Unanimous vote.

February 2024 Employment Numbers 275K: Opportunities and Data Trends

The Feb employment numbers have been released and it indicates there are still economic adjustments occurring that are for the most part making their way through the economic supply system. We could also be reaching a point of market saturation of labor so we may want to increase productivity and technology to maximize the human capital we have. There is room for training, education, and broad based opportunities.

Furthermore, We also have a new immigrant labor problem to deal with so we may consider pathways to help them move into productive work to grease the small business and other hiring needs that haven't been filled. Of course those being from the stock that we desire to retain versus deporting.

(Not a discussion on how to do that or if its politically acceptable. Large pools of entry labor can be an untapped labor resource for the military, small business, service and manufacturing. Vetting workers for work visas could get them paying taxes and contributing. That doesn't solve the problem of newcomers or those who may not have a positive influence on our country. We still must manage the boarder flow in a bi-partisan way.

"Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 275,000 in February, and the unemployment rate increased to 3.9 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in health care, in government, in food services and drinking places, in social assistance, and in transportation and warehousing" (BEA Employment Rate, Feb 2024, para 1).

Reviewing the table below you can find reasonable bumps in construction, transportation and warehousing, healthcare, private service, and leisure. Understanding these tables tells you about unemployment trends, which industries are picking up and which are slowing. Keep in mind these are short term numbers but trends can form over time. They can also change. So you have to keep on top of the economic news to envision what may be happening.

What does all that mean? What do you think?

Fire Calamity May Have Opened Up Investment Lots in Escanaba: Schumpeter Opportunities

A fire broke out and opened a hole in our hearts like it did in our downtown. Even though the building is a loss, it does open a new spot for new ideas and through the old comes something new. Escanaba is on an investment upswing and sometimes calamity brings new opportunities. It is the cycle of life and the economy when the old is replaced by the new (Schumpeter Creative Destruction)

With growth in local industrial and vacation interest and investment this can be a chance to develop something interesting to further Esky's global alignment. Developing these open spots could lead to parity with other development opportunities so that they enhance interest in both. The new development sites and the park are within 10 blocks of each other. Directly in the middle of downtown. Google Map

My argument has been to coordinate efforts to attract entrepreneurs that want to service the local public as well develop their businesses for exporting products (Best of both worlds. A functioning downtown and exporting products/services to draw in more wealth to the area. Sometimes they move on to create new businesses. Getting them here first makes a big difference. That requires thinking about what attracts entrepreneurs, grants, financing, community, etc.)

This is the time interested investors could think about being part of the process of building an emerging hot spot! Why sit on the sidelines when you can create? 🤔 Escanaba Commercial, Innovation Delta County, Cancun Esky!, WW. Oliver Start Your Business, DC Hedge Fund, Attracting Adventure SME.

If your interested in these sites or others I would contact the DDA right away and maybe they can help find some good prospects for you. Escanaba DDA

Federal Reserve Getting More Confident of an Interest Rate Cut

The rate cut is something that economists, investors, business owners, and even regular people salivate over. Pavlov would be jealous at the conditioning! State the word "rate cut" loud enough and its an EF Hutton  moment. Rate cuts spur spending and other economic activities and that can lead to growth in the right market.

(In my theory I'm working on a rate cut like this basically increases the width and depth of financial and physical/digital transactions throughout economic networks and speeds up the economy based on infrastructure functionality. Other theories say almost the same thing but that leads to the validity of my transactional sub aspects of the theory. Basically means other theories come to a similar conclusion using at least a slightly different method.)

I was reading some leading BEA stats on unemployment rates and I thought "Maybe it would be a good time for a small rate cut".

Went along my digital nomad day and then checked the news and came across this article 'Fed's Powell: "Not far" from confidence needed to cut rates' Some unemployment and other factors such as declining inflation might might lead to a justifiable rate adjustment (There are always risks to cutting at the wrong time, early, late, too much, not enough.).

How is the Fed rate set? Dr. Powell indicated that there are multiple metrics and they meet as a committee to discuss. These are big decisions so having multiple experts on the panel helps create broader understanding. Making sure groups have cognitive diversity is also important for rounding out decisions.

Segregationist Leaning vs Liberty Leaning Judges? The Struggle for a Universal Democracy

Judicial integrity is important just like it is in any position of authority. Because judges are not immune to the political aspects of their environment they may on occasion make decisions that filter political and personal distortions onto their public stakeholders. We often find this type of extreme bias in third world nations where racial, religious, tribal, and clan affiliations warp the sense of justice and lowers trust. Its takes commitment to ensure integrity of systems and in turn support by the public and the next generation.

(Two arguments that I won't go into detail here that include the economic side and the social contract side that are violated through bias, corruption and the protection thereof. Economic Freedom and Economic Growth)

Now, I could go on and on about economics and full society engagement of people based on merit and not racial or religious bigotries. Its a human capital and engagement issue around shared goals arguments as codified in our social contracts (i.e. constitution and oaths as examples). The more people engage, the more society will grow. The more they develop, the more society will benefit from the fruits of their labor. You can sort of see the main point I'm trying to make here on judicial and court integrity.

The Hypothetical Example Used for Illustrative Purposes Only:

Local Muslim (can be any race or religion) family with darker skinned  kids was subject to public mocking, harassment, targeting, rights violations, putting multiple kids at risk, using common bigot terms to describes Muslims, publicly blaming for things the family would have no association with, ostracization, false investigations, reputation ruining, etc. (The really bad stuff we don't want any system to do or any person in the system to suffer from. Clear signs of extremism and corruption that attempted to remove minorities and intimidate the concerned public into silence.)

This started when a group who had a financial incentive to harm the victims misused their social and professional networks to launch a hate narrative on the family. A mob of affiliated immature ethnocentric supports engaged in blind monkey para tactics. Their perception skewed by extreme bias and self perceptions of racial and religious superiorities.

The behaviors included coordination with some officials and hinted at prior use of similar tactic against others at different times and places in their history. They were coordinated and had experience in serious mistreatment of others.

Let us add to this hypothetical example. A few years later others came forward with similar complaints and signs of extremism and corruption perked into public conscious. A few complained of freedom of speech violations, corruption, and extremism. All of them were ignored and their complaints diminished so the public became increasingly upset.

Lack of Correction, Community Eats Cost:

While these behaviors were going on for years in full view of "inner clan members" no one raised a finger until the lid popped off the jar and made a mess that wasn't easy to explain. These problems were years in the making and while the blame falls squarely on those who engaged and promoted these behaviors it is the victims of such crimes, minorities, the community and others that must eat the cost.

In this example there are more then a dozen of acts of threatening behaviors that could have led to violence under the wrong circumstances. Others have complained of similar acts against them creating a type of history. They were not isolated incidents but potentially coordinated goal directed behaviors. Despite the severity of the behavior there was no reasonable attempt to adjust or correct to protect the public. Those who complained were further targeted (Free Speech). The corruption continues.....

(Keep in mind this is a hypothetical example and there were no cases. It is just a discussion for theory development on how to curb extremism and systemic corruption in the future. Our democracy thrives off treating everyone fairly and when these situations occur and they cannot be corrected it reflects negatively on civil and human rights that we as a nation support..).

The Long Term Dangers of Unchecked Corruption:

The dangers of such behaviors is apparent in terms of trust and societal development. I looked around for some strong U.S. examples but didn't find anything recent. I thought this one was pretty descent.

"Moreover, a judicial system which operates without regard to professional ethics standards is not be able to build and retain public trust in the fairness and objectivity of its decisions and outcomes. Such a system also remains vulnerable to undue influence from outside structures or individuals." (Judicial Integrity UN, para 3)

The community of victims have a few options.

1.) Report the behaviors to another agency with more oversite. For example,  Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission. They appear narrowly defined and this might be why its hard to remove poor acting judges and officials. That is a good place to consider reform to ensure the public and the Constitution are always protected from misuse.

2.) Class Action and Civil Rights Suits. One could do this but it often comes with a few strings. It is effective but that also relies on making examples more public. The good and bad all get trampled together. It is not a fine scalpel that works well in the grey areas. It is often the last resort when all other systems failed to do the right thing.

3. Report the crimes to different Federal and State agencies. This is not a bad idea. It creates a paper trail of crimes at different places and times. However, they have to be willing to act on it and if the bar is too high there may be no backstops to ongoing issues. Generally, this would be a primary place to go before option #2. We pay taxes to these institutions and their roles so let us maximize that first. (It makes sense to lower the temperature but not sweep the behaviors under the carpet. Its a logical first step.)

4. Investigate Case Outcomes: It is possible to look at all court cases, people involved, and the outcomes to see if there are clear statistically significant differences in court outcomes that may have a religious or racial bias. For example, were Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, Asians, Muslims, Mormans, Jews, Christians, etc. treated disparately and consistently over a a sustained period of time? (gross vs. repeated). This can be conducted by government or private agencies if the information is available (As far as I know, if you have access to the public information anyone can do this if they follow basic rules of logic and math.).

5. Vote Corrupted Officials Out. The next time you go to the polls to vote on officials with jaded behaviors, etc. remember all of the complaints and remember the victims and ask yourself, "What kind of justice system is most likely to protect and serve the public for the next generation?". Voting out is very different than raising the trust in the system which can only come from integrity within the system itself (solve the problems they created). Voting is our broad hindsight management tool but doesn't address the root of corruption itself. It just removes the problem from public position based on common descent.

(Interesting reading from less developed systems. A study on court signaling and trust. Some discussion on how trust is changing in courts in general. Over Half of Americans Disapprove of Supreme Court as Trust Plummets. Some mixed news Confidence in institutions.

If you are asking me, I will give my opinion. Generally, the systems function in a broad sense but there are loop holes in that system. When third world clan, racial, and religious hate occurs there are few to no backstops and that is against our values as a people and a nation. Sometimes due to political and ideological reasons we have struggled to fix the system to improve its trust and effectiveness. We can improve upon what it does well and remove those who try violate our rights with immunity through peaceful and active listening dialogue. It is not hard to fix if people agree upon the central purpose of such institutions and why there should be protective checks and balances against misbehaviors. Generally,  I avoid anything that leans segregationist in orientation or seeks to divide our society with different rules for different people. We do not need two different societies and the division of effort and purpose that poor behaviors create. Kindness, civility and togetherness. There are pathways to improvement if we reach together to the next rung of national development and all of its economic and social benefits-universal democracy. Six ways to Improve Declining Trust

How Much Money To Be In the Top 1% of US Wealth? (Poem: Penny in the Jar)

Well, I keep putting my pennies in the jar and I'm not quite there yet. I better start putting them faster.

According to article you need about $5.8 million to be in the top 1%. Wealth Needed to Join the Top 1%, by Country

Poem: Penny in the Jar

Penny in the jar,
To the top seems far,

Put one in today,
Took it from my pay.

If I try and save one tomorrow,
I might need to borrow.

The Art(s) that Added $1 Trillion to the Economy (Walking in Woods Painting)

Sorry I'm not very good at jokes sometimes. 😂 My art did NOT add $1trillion to the economy but might have detracted in value from society about $5 in canvas, misused paint, and not a particularly fruitful use of time but, "Hey! It's a hobby!" (Its either that or my other idea of learning how to carve a flute from oak and then learn to play it. Another idea I'm thinking of trying is a bamboo frame scull for rowing. At the moment art seems like a relatively easier outlet.

You may be interested in knowing the Arts in general did add $1 trillion to the market in 2021. Art is worth a lot and I support the arts because it tells stories and transfers values in society. These are the deep subconscious/collective conscious values that are passed through our expressions. On a large scale collective level it tells you the story of generations (Poem: Cottage of a Thousand Years).

New Data Show Economic Activity of the U.S. Arts & Cultural Sector in 2021

Did you know that the top export art was Creative Advertising at $19.3 billion in 2021?

Onto the art....(pull curtain)

This piece is called Walking in Woods and really I have no idea how I came up with it. The funny thing is that art isn't worth anything until its worth something. Mine could be kindling in the fireplace or it could be used to show readers my relative reason why I never became or could make much money from art. I think photography probably comes out a little better.

Manufacturing PMI Contracts Slight Environmental Supply Chain Issues (Feb 2024)

Manufacturing information from Institute of Supply Management has been released and it may make you a bit confused because there is growth in some areas and a few declines in others. 🤔🤷 Read Manufacturing PMI® at 47.8% February 2024 Manufacturing ISM® Report On Business and then consider the following highlights and info to ponder what is going on in the market and how that could potentially impact U.S. manufacturing as it seeks to become a stronger powerhouse serving the global market with leading edge outputs.

(What I'm looking at from a research standpoint is platform changes where manufacturing and GDP is functioning on a higher economic platform level overall. That might include more adaptability and much more human capital creativity. It will likely come with some positive and negative aspects of society but they are generally from a national/species standpoint going to be positive on a long tail trend. Economic Sociological Platforms)

The highlights,

1. ISM manufacturing PMI falls to 47.8 in February
2. New orders, employment measures decline
3. Construction spending slips 0.2% in January

Moving a little deeper into the data we find that overall the economy is still growing. New orders declined but exports have risen substantially. Exports are a wealth generator for nations such as the U.S. and when at the highest point of value creation within the supply chain can propel growth (Assuming profits are invested back into the U.S. economy at various places to push innovation and growth.)

Both the new order contraction and the new export rise could lead to emerging trends. A number of months must pass before we can say either are a trend and beyond normal fluctuation. (Contributions GDP from Exports, '23)

What we can say is that 3/6 Fabricated Metal Products; Chemical Products; and Transportation Equipment are rising and these are more fundamental to economy.

Just to throwing out an idea....

Geopolitical issues may have an impact on both orders and exports. For example, if the supply chain is becoming costly than companies may wait on unnecessary orders to a later date. Hopefully, the contraction is short lived.

You may be interested reading on how supply chain issues can impact monthly fluctuations in GDP. By extension it would impact indexes that measure growth and decline of manufacturing. "Both DL and ANN outputs empirically (and unanimously) demonstrated how sensitive monthly GDP variations are to dynamic changes in supply chain performances." (Shazad, 2023, para 15)

Likewise, new orders could be related to shifts in the broader supply chain as decoupling of large economies occur. No one can say for sure because there just isn't enough information and as soon as the environment shifts, the numbers might shift.

We have a lot of things we can still do to improve our mid and long term prospects in the U.S. as it relates to human capital, SME, innovation, and manufacturing. That also includes more broad based capitalism by improving incentives at various levels of society as pathways to human capital and business development.

Growth could continue to strengthen based on more recent updates to our infrastructure but we will have to see what the long term trend indicates.

The central infrastructure that allows for companies to succeed on a micro scale through the many trillions of transactions that form an economy could  find a level of cross structure synergy (Cross Structure Synergy ). In hypothetical terms value, velocity, and reach of those transactions influences growth.

(I also found a nice article in Reuters. 'US manufacturing contracts further, rays of light on the horizon')

Big Bear Eagles Hatching Live

I saw these two in the middle of last year when in Big Bear, CA. This is interesting to watch two eagles come into the world. I like nature and think it should be protected. I mean, who gives us the right to destroy the environment? We are like only one species on the globe. Ok I know its sort of a silly argument but it makes you wonder what progress actually means in the long run. Ideally we should coexist with minimum economic impact. I think there are ways to do that.

The Concept of Freedom: Pandora's box of hate and extremism

Protecting extremism and enrichment off of extremism is not the way to go in this nation. Imagine if hate crimes typically went unreported, witnesses are ignored, evidence buried, community concerns sidelined and the perpetrators are given a free passes based on close religious and ethnic social connections.  Such situations would likely socially prompt concerned citizens that deep seated dislike of "others" (that can be by any "other") is normalized and encouraged legally and socially on an implied and sometimes semi-official level. Its always important to strengthen the foundations of our democracy and that comes from trust.

Extremism can warp the application of laws and sometimes it breaks them in full view of others in a way that signals such behaviors are acceptable methods of dealing with minorities (Science of signaling and expectation setting.). Free passes do have consequences and this is why we must ensure integrity throughout the system to make sure that it is oriented true north based on our nation's shared goals and central commitments. That is despite which way the political winds blow. Politics should strengthen our democracy and not be counterproductive.

Let us further this illustrative hypothetical example (illustrative only)....

One of the leaders of a local hate group said through a proxy that they were targeting the family because they were Muslim. (There was also a financial and social incentives to these behaviors.) They went after the kids, reputation, job, biased hiring, friends aggression, called the targets names, invalidated their concerns, harassed where they found them, ostracized, launched false investigations, violated privacy, rejected them from jobs and much much more. Based upon a large group of public mockers and aggressive posturing and comments it was not seen as an idle immature threat. More than once serious intimidation was observed by officials, in some cases participating, and they swept it all under the carpet in full view of numerous other officials that were supposed to be protecting the community. (This is why I would encourage those who feel silenced to report these behaviors to federal agencies so they can track and understand these incidences.)

(When people do bad stuff as a group and when there are interconnections between social and official positions, generally the law or values are seen as less important than social networks. We see this on a national scale in politics today where both sides cannot see the value of the opinions or rights of the other. A mental distortion that makes its way into local courts and sometimes legal tactics where extremism has become embedded. We owe it to good officers and the institution to preserve the integrity of the justice system and remove corrupted actors while promoting good actors that protect the public. We should love our police and ensure they can do their job without the influence of hate groups or corruption. Protestors and police have a shared stake in our future but politics creates divisions where normal allies would have been found.)

Others have come forward with similar complaints and these were also in pattern ignored by the local judges and some officials (Some are good and some are haters. Most try and do the right thing but there are cases where there are no ways to correct poor behaviors because those who make a decision over them have bias themselves.). No matter how bad it got, they continually sought to target, arrest, harass and potential serious injure or worse to the targets (There are complaints that a similar local group raped a young girl in back of the car and then stalked her until she killed herself. Maybe true or maybe not but it fit into the context of similar behaviors. That is a concern.). The perpetrators knew they had immunity before, during and after their 5 year wave of cleansing behaviors (Keep in mind others came forward with similar complaints so its possible its a long term pattern that isn't corrected.).

(When it comes to minorities or anyone else, even though they be a majority of society, there are few rights that will be withheld when politics and political distortion make their way into our daily lives in a dangerous and unfair way. Extremists don't see their behaviors as dangerous. They brag about sadism through false logic. If you trace it back you will understand their assumptions of value about themselves and others. Actually worse about themselves that is projected on others. Many times when we hate, we dehumanize, and that leads to not seeing the rights of victims as more important than the rights of perpetrators.)

Lets continue on with the silliness (This example gets more bizarre as we keep going 🤯).....

These hate groups and affiliate officials used intimidation and threatened violence in retaliation of legitimate complaints to force victims into silence; a seemingly shared experience. Freedom of speech and religion was boldly violated in ways that would be more accustomed to third world nations. The local judge was likely aware that these groups were conducting these paramilitary acts of white extremism against local citizens but failed to correct the perpetrators. The message? "there are no rights for minorities and they have no value in our society." We Americans are more important than heuristic understanding's and of course we were a big part of building this nation...still are! The future belongs to all us from the work we all did in the past and present.

(This is an example for illustrative purposes only but there are people who do experience similar types of behaviors so its a good example to think about. You can switch the Muslim example out for any other religion or race. Black, Jewish, Arab, Hispanic, Asian, etc. where there are extreme bias against them by people who do not have a moral right to judge them, themselves, or anyone else.)

My opinion is different then far left or right, because I take a sociological view to these issues from a wide and narrow perspective. Morality is part of that discussion but is more a broader spiritual value and legal perspective of strategy. The types behaviors are based in clannism and has racial and religious overtones. i.e. trying to arrest Muslims on holidays (switch the religions its ok. Its just an example.). One could make an argument local courts didn't have knowledge of what extremism is but they do have access to general moral and legal codes that would have prompted them to act to ensure integrity. Hate or not, these were already illegal and immoral behaviors so it leads to a bigger issue under the surface (Needs an instigation maybe. Maybe not? ðŸ¤·).

Extremism and group hate opens a Pandora's box of other looming problems that will likely raise their head in the future. Not everyone who supported the hate narrative understood the deep dysfunction of the perpetrators or their intent. However, they should have known the behavior was dangerous and wrong. It appeared through other complaints that it was a long stemming problem of intentional ignorance. The good and bad all swept into the box. That is unfortunate because most are good people but they have had their honor stained by "bad apples" (Notice the broad implications on how national politics influences local perception to create justifications for illegal and immoral behaviors. It can also work the opposite way to strengthen our values and that is where our efforts should be sought.)

Stronger focus on freedom would have ensured the cultures of those departments were aligned to our values as a people (i.e. the collective people and the Constitution.). Proactive measures might have uncovered a few bad actors and corrected the situation quickly but a type moral negligence and disrespect towards the Bill of Rights led to increasing distortions that were easily manipulated by someone who had multiple ulterior motives for launching such venom. They were easily manipulated because of their homogeneous perception of others and outsiders. Fraternization.

We can't support hate on a semi-official level or talk out of both sides of our mouth. Freedom and oaths ensure that we continue to push for a safer and fairer society that protects the rights of everyone White, Black, Muslim, Jew, Republican, Democrat,  Hispanic, all of them! We have a collective stake in ensuring integrity and trust in our shared futures. Those who knew they were committing crimes and free passed it are culpable in promoting hate and corruption. Excellence is by habit not by complacency.

I looked at the stats below but I don't believe they are accurate. In the example above, the area doesn't report hate crimes for one reason or another. Some people engage in them and they are free to do that but lack of reporting, follow up, or correction indicates a cultural perception that doesn't solve the problem. The victims eat the moral and legal failures of those who were supposed to be protecting them...the process of blaming the victims. So most of these stats are underreported because they would be subconsciously understood and coded as other types of crimes. Sometimes intentional and sometimes not (For example they say they aggressively targeted because they don't like that person but it may not be reflective. Official vehicles might have been use. This example is getting nuts! The bias distorts their interpretations and understandings. Being consistently polite, friendly and helpful didn't seem to factor into their perception because they anchored that family to distorted perceptions of Muslims in the media in a way that dehumanize people.) Murder and Extremism 2023 and Most Major Cities Saw a Surge in Hate Crimes

Some questions to ponder. Move beyond politics to essential purposes.

1.) What does free passes for hate and enrichment off of that hate mean? It can mean to some that there are different rules for different people. Hate is a lucrative game designed to control, harm and enrich off of others. This is not what we need in a modern democracy. There are few to no backstops when these things occur. We are getting better but they still persist in some places.

2.) What does it do to victims? It makes it expressly clear that these behaviors are normalized and will be repeated at some point in the future (or the risk of that.). It dehumanizes the victims and their contributions and ensures they are left with the understanding they are not full citizens with full rights simply based on their religion and/or race. Of course not everyone believes that, and it might not be true, but in incidents like confirm those perceptions. We should correct that and ensure we are all under same banner for the long term health of the nation through shared value formation.

3.) What does it say about system integrity? While it might work reasonably well in most places, in this example it appeared intentionally the opposite. They were trying to violate peoples rights by mixing extremist values with false sense of legitimacy into official positions. Where these free pass clan systems exist, the rights and complaints of citizens seemed intentionally thwarted/retaliated against making future decisions open to questioning. More checks and balances may be needed to maintain integrity.

4.) What does it mean for our values? Studying different religions and religious figures (not trying to be religious but let use Jesus because most know of his good message) that morally such things as hate, throwing stones, disrespecting Gods created life, etc. are not part of the deeper religious values but a distortion of false religious justifications for poor behavior. Almost non of the primary spiritual leaders in history advocated for dishonesty and aggression. They were mostly peace makers that are different then some of the religious leaders today. It also indicates that the Bill of Rights, Constitution, and liberty itself is not agreed upon or supported by everyone. The essence of values learned from historically significant religious texts are easily manipulated for self purpose (Something these religious text warn against  the false premises that lead to poor judgement. You can discuss any religion you want I'm just using the Judeo-Christian-Islamic perspective for this example because these are the most common and influential in the U.S.. In my perspective and somewhat purist values, I believe we should protect all religious practices and not violate Freedom of Religion for unGodly, immoral, unethical, or spiritually defunct justifications.)

(There are many examples of philosophers of God and their good messages. However, just because people say they follow them doesn't mean they actually do on a deeper moral level. This moral confusion is one thing that most of these philosophers warned against as dogmatic self interest placed above the essential intent of the message. You now can see why the intent of laws can be thwarted for obscure technicalities when the most sacred values are misapplied for ideological purposes. i.e. extremists! In other words, extremists perceptions are so broke at their subconscious root they struggle to correct themselves.)

4. How might extreme bigotries and overt hate relate to the needs of the next generation? The next generation is very diverse and they are unlikely to protect corruption and intentional thwarting of national values. They want opportunities and fair treatment and these free pass clan based hate systems are, and always have been, antithetical to a healthy future. They will likely change them and hold to account those who protect poor behaviors. Let us be proactive and make the changes needed....versus foot dragging...free pass....and more derailment of trust and purpose.

5. On a wider scale why is this important?: Anytime we minimize the rights and values of a percentage of society we are not able to draw their human capital and contributions for the benefit of everyone. Actively minimizing rights is not wise and sign of bigger issues. We do have millions who complain and for the most part we make a few changes and they go home until the next event. However, these events on sociological level are become more common and that is a sign of value changes rubbing against those with rigid hate ideologies. We just need to look at trust levels and demographic info to understand that (In one ear and out the other.).

6. Let us pretend your one of the victims and the outcomes seem corrupted. The perpetrators enriched off of violence, the group who chased and mocked you feel no remorse, the judge who gave them a free pass will still be making decisions over other minorities, community complaints were not investigated, and there has been no correction to ensure others rights are or will be protected. You might think about why perpetrators were given free passes.

(Keep in mind that two wrongs don't make a right. You don't correct by becoming like the perpetrators. That is the last thing you want to do because you respect what our nation stands for and the sacrifices people made. You correct by learning and encouraging others to reach for the greatest heights of human freedom and positive community engagement in constructive ways. You become better than the persecutors. Something deeply embedded into our religious, ethical, and national moral codes. Correction will come because the cancer of hate is a disease that will spread to a point its untenable to placate.)

(Interesting note: If you survive the first wave of ethnic-religious cleansing and you will discover a gift they gave you-insight into why our national values are so important. Can you look your kids and grand kids in the eye and say, "I have done everything in my legal/moral power to protect and preserve the freedoms we earned from the sacrifices of the past and the opportunities that will help you in the future.". You know that extremism, hate and corruption should not be normalized and you push against that. I wonder what extremists say to their kids and grand kids? We need one indivisible society. )

When these things happen why do you think they free pass such hate? What's your opinion? Far right will likely look down on minorities (now majority of society) and if you are far left you are likely to think there is intentional complacency and protection of violent hate. I'm in the middle because I cannot rule out decisively either because there are examples. I can only say it is possible and likely occurs in other places as well but the extent would need to be studied. I think the perpetrators who intentionally violated laws should be held to account and that local systems that went afoul need to be corrected to ensure integrity and trust of the general population. More importantly to protect the public. Local complaints against good old boy networks and prior crimes should be investigated.

In this example, based upon the immunities before, during and after cleansing behaviors indicates future violence is expected against minority groups. Assuming behaviors are based on values, behaviors are patterned and behaviors are likely to be repeated because the essential values or perceptions have not changed. The perpetrators are free to do whatever they want when want to. A display of a justice default.

I hope in the future as young people come forward and pick up the torch that we nearly snuffed out in our generation (i.e. Jan. 6th tail gate party vs violent coup), that they understand the struggles our fathers/mothers and grandfathers/grandmothers sacrificed to ensure freedom and liberty. There are those who don't respect those sacrifices and are trying to push for the return of segregation and two distinct societies. Where these free pass hate systems reward crimes and intentional corruption, they are antithetical to that more noble struggle that is the central reason for our nation's existence.  Lets move beyond post segregation society to a universal democracy where we are all free and at our highest competitive state. The best way to do that is through protecting our values, wisdom, kindness, science, learning, sharing, strategy, helping, and all the good things that push out the destructive power of hate and fulfills our purpose as a people (Feel free to discard...theoretical dribble dribble.)

Just in case you don't understand, freedom and civil rights is what we stand for nearly everyday in our oaths. Some of us believe and some of us just blindly repeat the words. You have the power of the vote! Use it to make positive proAmerican change! Vote out anyone who supported and protected these extremist leaning values to protect the integrity of the entire system. You, as young Americans, have that power on your finger tips this year and that will continue on for about 30 until another generation updates values again. Voting out hate group affiliates and their judicial protectors is the way our democracy thrives and ensures it corrects the sins of the past. Always focus just over the horizon on an inclusive high performing society.

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and  to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all." Pledge of Allegiance (In honor of those who fulfill them everyday.)

*This is a hypothetic example for illustrative purposes. I'm a lover of police and I'm a lover of  civil rights. It is possible to love both. All Americans can be valued members of our society and working toward the same lofty goals that lead to national development. Hate, corruption, and extremism take aware from that ability.

How Civil Rights Organizations Improve and Protect the Integrity of Justice Systems

Civil rights organizations help systems stay on track with their oaths and responsibilities. Sometimes they jump the track and that is based in the human condition related to things like bias, bigotries, self interest, corruption, good old boy networks, and misunderstandings of national purpose. Because there are often not enough checks and balances within these systems when then go afoul of the intent of our laws, they also then violate our more sacred societal oaths to a wider group of stakeholders

Those organizations that focus on the greater purpose of ensuring people are treated fairly in society without different rules for different people are doing a service to societal development (Different than a political axe to grind organizations that might skew the purpose of human freedom for less noble objectives.). We all have a stake in making sure we are maximizing our human capital and stepping into the future of our nation in fulfilment of our social contracts.

Public Trust and Confidence and Trust in Justice Project

In my running hypothetical example where one can target minorities, enrich off of manipulation, take advantage of sick veterans, can use intimidation to cleanse their town with complete immunity is not what we stand for as a nation. Civil and human rights organizations make sure we walk the talk in our professed values in a way that builds greater justice trust and a more inclusive society.  There are places where recourse is thwarted and more enlightened paths intentionally hidden.

(Those who respect their nation try and build togetherness while those who disrespect our histories try and create differences. That is why we use the word "indivisible" in our Pledge of Allegiance. )

In other words, civil rights organizations are doing a greater service to society when compared to those who allowed bad behavior to happen and then protect it once it was complete through wink and  nod justice. These are the problems that many minorities face as different application of laws for different people creates different perceptions of society. i.e. Americans/"Americans" (We need to be one.). Excuses are inappropriate for those who want to build stronger societies.

(For example, some spotlight seekers have made civil rights into political issues that hype crowds such with police vs. protestor where a solutions focused discussion would have been most helpful for all stakeholders.  One can respect the dangerous and often helpful work police do and we can at the same time respect the message of needed improvements we gain from protesting youth. Finding ways to take that information and adapt a system and solve problems that builds trust is called "rationality" or even scientific rationality . Those who have an even keel perspective are the type of people we need in leadership positions. Civil rights are to ensure we all work under the same understandings and have chances based in our merit as a person and not the subjective perceptions of those least likely to stand for our collective values.)

Civil rights help hold certain bad actors to account and that protects citizens and preserves our stated and implied social contracts. When done with the big picture in mind, i.e. liberty and justice, they are an important part of maintaining the health of our democracy. There is no politics when it comes to very purpose and soul of our nation. We must have a unified voice that all Americans should be treated with respect and integrity as valuable members of our growing, striving and in some ways emerging society.

(Technically its still emerging into a universal democracy from older segregation perspectives. i.e. official laws make discrimination illegal but unwritten rules often allow these things to happen.)

Maintaining system integrity is a choice and habit that is directive by nature. We do it well and it thrives and if we don't do it well we have lower trust. I always advocate for marching forward to solutions versus backsliding into moral chaos. Anytime we can build trust, we should do it, and anytime we can problem solve we should do it.  Justice brings a level playing field and civil/human rights keeps it pointed toward to its most beneficial strategic outcome-liberty.

Here is my suggestion as a humble servant of society. I support civil rights when they have a clear intent to improve the lives of citizens through encouraging fair and equitable treatment. When done well it attracts people and extends to solutions such as helping support economic growth through merit based opportunities. It creates a new way for stakeholders to see the world around them and that is important. The message of freedom, human and civil rights should not be skewed for any political purposes. (i.e. civil rights teach others to think about all of us as valuable citizens with inherent God given rights.).

Thus it is my suggestions to support our civil and human rights organizations who are trying to do good least our rights are taken away or the torch goes dim (see hypothetical example above). Patriotism is more than surface symbolism, it requires meaningful and reflective thought on the essential purpose of justice and how those freedoms are protected.  Our very purpose as a nation is to increase freedom and universal fair treatment that leads to economic and social advancement for all of us (It is rooted in philosophy, cultural underpinnings, moral conscious and economic science..).

Banana Bread and the American Baker's Association (Digital Nomad Sweetooth)

One of the things digital nomads can do because they work from home is to cook (Ok sometimes clean, cook, twiddle with something, workout, whatever! Just get off the chair.). First, cooking is fun and with lap tops and stuff you can pretty much work from anywhere. Why not work from the kitchen? Some good ideas come up when you are doing something else.

King Arthur
Banana Bread History

Ok, my banana bread was a C+/B- but it really wasn't the point of baking it. Mostly I bake and leave it to my college age kids to devour. I might have one piece at like 250 calories or something.

(Trying to do a little fitness training on the side and some local firefighting so I want to stay in shape. Most firefighters die because of heart attacks during bouts of extreme exertion and that comes from not staying in shape.)

I quoted the following from the American Baker's Association

"Bakers are found in all 50 states, in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The baking industry employs almost 800,000 skilled individuals, generates over $42 billion in direct wages, and has an overall economic impact of over $186 billion."

Baking is great business! I have noticed in some nice towns bakeries and coffee shops. They are social hubs and popular for digital nomads. People also love fresh bread. Biking around I sometimes stop and buy a loaf. Maybe it costs me $5 instead of $2.50 or $1.50 for the cheap processed stuff but all that money stays local in a way that enhances communities.

PNC Survey Show Small Business Optimistic (Feb 24)-Broader Conception of Economy

You will be surprised by the positive information below as it relates to small business sentiment. The PNC report shows that small business is becoming increasing optimistic about their prospects and that is a good thing. It is important because small business can increase innovation, broader economic opportunities, and improve alignment to the market (i.e. rising investments, manufacturing, business, etc.). When developing a stronger national economic agenda small business will be central to developing emerging future businesses that attract investments.

(Small business Innovation  and Senate Innovation and Research)

Opportunities are rising at various levels through broader societal development. As we create more opportunities for entrepreneurs, middle, working, and creative classes we strengthen the foundation of capitalism by ensuring proper circulation of money and opportunity. It is that circulation which leads society to continue to adjust toward market alignment.

Organizations and nations that are market oriented are going to grow faster then those producing products that are not market aligned. From my theory development on economic clusters one might consider that a cycle of creative destruction occurs through reallocation of resources to their highest value (i.e. supply chain, service, manufacturing, skill, etc.). The theory is based in part on a broader implications within a small focused locality. A type of optimization grinded out through societal adjustments.

The process of adaptation makes little difference if we are talking about a cluster, a town, or a nation because they are based in human ability to make decisions to resolve challenges big and small. It is choice and wise decisions over assets that leads to economic growth and social enhancements (when given valued weight in decision making). We put our money and effort in the right places and we will grow and if we waste those resources, or can't make strategic decisions over them, then we will begin to shrink (Two important considerations is the need to improve economic growth opportunities and quality of life aspects of full national development.)

'PNC Survey Shows Business Owner Optimism Continues to Soar Amid Improving Economic Conditions'
(Quoted below)
  • 55% of small and mid-sized business owners surveyed are optimistic about the national economy.
  • 79% are highly optimistic about the prospects of their own business.
  • Inflation pressures are easing with fewer than half expecting to raise prices in the next six months.

Hiking the U.P. and National Hiking States (Polar Creek 24 Photo)

Hiking is one of those activities that come natural to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We are surrounded by woods and nature. The other day I was in Marquette the other day which is our cultural center and Escanaba is our growing tourist and investment destination.

If your interested in some basic stats on hikers Top Hiking States '23

As a hobby photographer I have my own art gallery. I'm not saying its good but whatever I try! Not sure on the Polar Creek picture but thought I would include it so the hike had some benefit beyond fitness. :(

A higher quality version of picture is in

Veterans, Generator, Finance Procedures and More!-Delta County Board of Commissioners (Feb. 20, 24):

One way to learn about governance is to simply watch and reflect on the issues that are at play and how they eventually come to understanding and resolution. The meetings are moving forward and people are getting things done! That doesn't mean everyone is going to be happy but big things like airport crisis and a few other lingering issues seem to have more clarity and a light at the end of the tunnel.

There will likely be issues coming forward on solar panels and the electric grid. These are highly debated topics depending on one's political perspective (I would say personal perspective but many times people don't think deeply about the positives and negatives so they let others define their importance for them and they become political versus development discussions.). My personal opinion is that if you can find a way to create local backups of energy with a direct benefit to the community without significant blight or environmental impact than these are ideas to explore (i.e. size of farms was an issue debated in past.)

Think strategy over politics when deciding important issues. Don't even listen to me! Just listen to the different sides and various perspectives and come to your own conclusions. Once you do that you can then decide what to support, not support, or cast a vote (Let us teach others interested in learning how things are done more on a local level). At that point you truly own your thoughts and choices so collective decisions get better and more accurate because it taps our collective brain power experiences (Sorry, getting philosophical 😬)

back to the meeting.....

This meeting also discussed helping veterans, electric back up, finance committee approval, locked gates, policies and the like. A few questions arose. Some clarification on attorneys. Finance policy seemed to be a leading discussion and debate. There are areas in this realm that need additional discussion to settle raised concerns by community members.

Sometimes policies and procedures can gain support by explaining them and the evidence used to come to a conclusion. I suspect that this is related to people's ability to understand the meaning of the policy and why it exists. Watching different meetings teaches you about what does and doesn't work well. I found this research you might be interested in  Communicating the Effectiveness of Policies.

The county and town has an opportunity to do something unique and interesting but that will require commitment to economic opportunity and quality of life enhancements. The area is becoming known as a vacation and investment destination and it is helpful if people orient their thinking toward those goals. That includes ensuring a level of infrastructure self-sufficiency.
