Beaumont’s in Bird Rock Offers Dining, Drinks and Dancing

Beaumont’s Restaurant is a favorite for locals in the Bird Rock community of La Jolla. Offering fine foods, live music, and cocktails visitors have become accustomed to spending more than a few hours in the establishment. Whether you are looking for juicy lamb meatballs or something more homegrown like a burger you can find it at Beaumont’s. Drinks, dinner, and dancing are common activities in this well maintained business. 

The restaurant is casual by nature and offers a large selection of different foods. Breakfast prices range from $7 to $11 with specialties such as Beamont’s Benedict and Short Rib Hash & Fried Eggs. Lunch is also prices in the $7 to $11 range and includes selections such as Tri-Colored Kale and the Duckwich. Standard items such as soups and salads are also on the menu. 

Linguini with Clams

Dinner is a different sort of game at Beamont’s with prices that range from $10 to $25. Specialty items include Pan Roasted Sea Bass and Linguini with Clams. I ordered the later which doesn’t fit with my diet but it was worth the try. It is a linguini made with rapini, white wine, chili flakes, lemon, and grana padano. Around the edges of the plate are the famous California fried clams. For the price of $16 it was just enough to fill the stomach without creating that uncomfortable feeling. 

Their wine list is fairly extensive offering prices around $8 per glass and $40 per bottle. Mixed drinks such as Diablo Michi Lada and Pomegranate Margarita are priced around $10. They also offer a selection of coffees and teas for around $5.00. If you haven’t tried a Dirty Chai Latte or a Hammerhead Espresso you might want to be bold. 

Beamont’s offers patio, in-door, and bar seating. As a restaurant there are plenty of table seats for groups or booths for individuals around the dance floor. On weekends live bands roar to life playing everything from the oldies to modern rock. The dance floor offers plenty of room for everyone. General ages are 45 and over with a few younger people dotting the landscape. If you are single and in this age range it may be a nice place to visit. 

The establishment seems to have a strong customer base that continues to come back over and over. There is no cover charge from what can be seen and the dining atmosphere is strong. The live music helps bring in customers who desire to sit and have cocktails. Around midnight, the time I left, the bar was still busy and lively. The age group offers an advantage in terms of their ability to purchase restaurant offerings without standing around with a single drink for over two hours that you may notice at some of the younger locations. Hence, no need for a cover charge. The reasonably priced menu offers the an interesting selection with a few exotic items for those who want something else. They seem to take considerable care in the presentation and quality of the food. Staff members were friendly and helpful.

Dining and Dancing on the Bay at Prospect Bar and Grill

The crowd sways and the music plays at Prospect Bar and Grill. The attendees are energized and full of youthful excitement as to what the night will bring. Located in the downtown commercial district of La Jolla California it is one of those convenient locals clubs that is both around the block and down to earth. The crowd ranges from the late twenties to the early forties. It has a nice blend of outdoor and indoor seating that accommodates a chance to dance or chat.

The Prospect has a luscious menu that ranges in everything from chicken fingers to lobster ravioli. Besides items like steamed mussels and pesto salmon one can also tantalize their taste buds with an indulgent chocolate mousse cake.  Most items on the menu are under $16 while wine selections are around $9 per glass. A  nice attraction about this establishment is that you can sit outside on the patio overlooking the bay. The warmers will keep you from the chill but the view will warm your heart so they probably aren’t needed anyway. It is recommended that you come to eat around 8:00 P.M if you desire to enjoy supper before dancing and want to avoid the $5.00 charge that kicks in when the music starts playing. 

It appears that the restaurant will accommodate large groups and will section off areas to make these accommodations. It is important to make reservations ahead of time in order to host a party group. Small groups are not likely to have to wait long before finding seating as dinner time flow is smooth. Plenty of space for everyone.

Before nine o’clock expect the dinner crowd to be finishing their meals and the D.J. to just be starting to set up his jamming list. By ten o’clock the party starts rolling with dance music, drinks, and a social frenzy. No need to worry about long lines as the club seems to have just the right quantity of attendees which avoids unnecessary drink delays. 

The strategy of establishment appears to coincide with the maximization of facilities and resources. The day and evenings are food service times while the evening caters to the club going crowd. Pool tables are available during the day or early evenings to coincide with the lounge atmosphere. Television sets are placed on the walls for those who like to catch up on their sports statistics.

Affordable Luxury of Bernini's Bistro and Wine Bar

If you are on the hot pursuit of an elegant establishment to take a date or significant other you might consider the classic European atmosphere of Bernini’s Bistro in La Jolla. Patrons can choose between tables in the front, booths by the wine rack or café style outdoor seating surrounded by the ambiance of lamps. Whatever you choose it is will be a warm comfortable place with friendly staff and soft conversation. 

Located near the front of the restaurant is a small wine bar with a large selection of glasses for under $9 and bottles under $30. Flat screen television sets surround the bar to offer the latest updates on your favorite game or CNN event. As you sip your alcoholic beverage you can listen to a folk singer lightly singing tunes of a time long gone bye while discussing politics with the bar tender.

Bernini’s Bistro is considered a La Jolla local’s favorite. The European style eatery has been featured on Chanel 10’s Restaurant Row, Chanel 8 Unknown Eatery, Winner of 2005 poll, and as one of best places to have birthdays.  It is also listed as 26 out of 184 restaurants in La Jolla by Trip Advisor. It comes highly recommended by residents.

Patrons can choose between Italian, seafood, continental and steakhouse options on the menu for prices between $20-$30. The food is rated above the many other comparable establishments in the area and provides a nice atmosphere with just the right amount of lighting and murals to make it interesting. It is seen as a cozy environment with simplicity and class all mixed together. 

Within the immediate enclave are a few shopping options that include clothing stores, coffee shop, bakery, eye glasses, and other small treasures. During the day visitors can sit in the court and meet the locals who frequent the place often. If you are single it is a great place to people watch and get caught up on local gossip.
