China Spy Balloon is Shot Down by F22 Rapture: 6 Alternatives Before Shooting Down

While shooting it down is one option, something that could be expected, but not necessarily the only course, it does send a message. These type of spy things are going to pick up now that China is becoming somewhat starved from American tech. What I would have found interesting is if we would have used our Hollywood creativity and send them back confusing/misleading signals before taking it down

A few ideas.....

Option 1: Super Advanced Society Pictures: Send images of space ships in low orbit, millions of troops training, huge Tron type cities, cloaking cars, battalions of mech warriors, cold fusion plants, laser weaponry, etc.

Option 2: Make Them Feel Bad: Reruns of their teams loosing sports games, replaying negative historical documentaries, old sad movies, faces of people crying, eerie music, and lots of stuff that no one would want to watch more than once.

Option 3: A Mythical Land: Perhaps we could have created a mythical land with special trained karate cows, the Lock Nese Monster, planet of the apes, flying cars (soon to come), Superhero battles and other other things that we have in our movies and pop culture.

Option 4: Show Them Empty Grasslands: Just keep replaying wildlife and grasslands over and over.

Option 5: A Hacker Recruitment Advert: Something like "Work from Home Opportunity!"

Option 6: Send Them Back a Funny Message: A fake crack on the spy cam with a label that says "Made in China"

Ok, this isn't to make light of what happened nor the danger that some of these surveillance actives present. If your going to send a spy balloon, then you are likely doing many other things to also get information. One of the reasons why we need to get better at data protection. As the competition grows there will be more of these activities occurring. At the end of the day we as a country have to decide if we are ready to compete and how we are going to get there. There should be some emphasis leaning in our own national development.
