How Impression and Confidence can Lead to Online Trust for Social Networks and Stores

Two measures that foster online purchases are impression and confidence. According to a study in ACM Transactions on Internet Technology consumers are more willing to engage in an online setting if they have intuitive trust (Yefeng, et. al. (2017). While the study is related to social networks it can have some meaning for those who want to foster greater trust with online buyers.

First lets say that impression and confidence relate to trust level and certainty. The higher consumers trust the site and are certain of positive outcomes, the more likely they are going to purchase from an online e-tailer. People connect, buy and interact based on this trust factor and online stores should be concerned about how they foster these feelings within customers.

What can build trust and certainty?

The first impression of your site is important. You want to make sure that people see your site from the very first few seconds as trustworthy. It should look professional, well put together, and have strong color coordination that leads to a professional look.

It is also important to create well formulated and easy to read language. The language should be based in your core customer demographic. If it has a higher education then the language used should be appropriate to that demographic. At all times keep it simple to understand and to the point.

You may also want to include contact information. People trust phone numbers, addresses, and emails. They believe that if they can contact the company it will be more trustworthy. Hiding this information can damage your overall impression and sales potential.

Overcoming the Human Condition of Needs

The human condition is related to the constant search to fulfill our biological and psychological needs. They bubble up and drive our behavior in a way that often works under our conscious awareness.   There are a few people that can master these needs and live in harmony in a way not subject to the constant underpinnings that push us into certain actions and behaviors.

Let us first consider how these subconscious needs drive our behavior. The animal side of our behavior is driven by  biological drives such as food, sex, shelter, and safety. Our human side considers psychological drivers such as fulfillment, social contact, love, and happiness.

As complex creatures, when we are hungry we work, frequent restaurants, and seek out personal preferences like fine French cuisine. Our biological push for food is realized in personal likes and self-image purchases related to self-esteem gratification defined by our social environment. Why pay for a $20 meal when a $5 meal would suffice?

Our simple needs become associated with complex human manifestations that fields like neuroeconomics try to understand. Purchases are associated with a decision-making process that filters through our neural networks that tap deep memories and feelings that result in a conclusion to purchase or not purchase.

To gain mastery over your needs and wants requires digging deep into your thoughts and actions to find what drives certain behaviors. Your motivations maybe subconscious, but understanding them through thoughts and actions is possible on a conscious level.

Once you develop a mental mechanism of self-reflection you can gain mastery over these needs and find new ways of fulfilling them. You become a fully self- actualized individual. You become the master of your own life!

To owe yourself is no greater feat. When u finally are in harmony with your needs and understand their drivers you can choose more directed behavior that closes the distance to their achievement in a more pragmatic manner. Behavior becomes purposeful and goal directed in a conscious manner.
As an added bonus to understanding yourself, is the ability to understand others. We have social brains and awareness of how our behavior is impacted by our subconscious needs also leads to understanding of how other's behaviors are impacted by which needs drive others. Understanding yourself leads to understanding others as the rose color glasses are removed.

Are Deals Made on the Fairway?

You wouldn't think sports would have much to do with business but in the game of high end stakes a few strokes can make a big difference. Golf can foster big deals more than any other game. A good swing can lead to a hole-in-one for your business and for your game.

You read about it all the time. Conferences at golf resorts, business deals being made on the fairway, and people socializing at the club house. It is a person-to-person game where one can spend a significant amount of time with their potential business partner to hash out the details of a deal.

Here is how it works. You need to know who you are doing business with. You don't want to stare at each other for hours until you come to a deal. It would take too much effort and lead to high stress negotiations.

However, if you had a game of distraction people can talk about business, then distract themselves for a few moments to make a swing and then get back to negotiating. Because it is a slow game you have plenty of time to think about business without pressure or stress.

You also have the ability to learn about your business partner and how they think and talk while your walking or driving down the range. Thus, golf is an excellent opportunity to get to know each other as well as talk about business in a relaxed and fun environment. By the end of the game you either "connected" or didn't "connect" and you know whether or not you have a deal.

The Science of Persuasion

Why is it Important to Maintain Your Health for Maximum Productivity

We sometimes fall into a slump. Eat bad food, not work out, put in an excessive amount of work, and don't take care of our bodies. We know that this impacts our health but may not know that it can also impact our brains. Whether we are talking about our energy levels or our waist size the eventual impact hits our thinking abilities as well. To maintain your competitive edge you may want to consider incorporating a healthy fitness routine.

The brain functions from complex activities of information transference through bundles of neural fibers. These transactions are fostered from chemicals created from the food we eat.

Eating healthy with enough nutrients feeds our brains. Poor diets limit the resources of the brain and lead to feelings of lathargy. Our brains simply work slower and don't transfer information well due to chemistry.

Food is only one aspect as exercise is another. As we exercise we find that our energy levels rise and this leads to greater thinking power. Our health becomes an important component to brain power.
Exercise also improves on the adaptation of the brain. As you improve oxygen intake, learn new movements and gain muscle your brain must recircuit to handle new responsibilities. This keeps adjusting your thinking and keeps it pliable and at its peak.

Suggestions for working out:
1. Cardio to improve blood and oxygen.
2. Resistance to improve muscle tone.
3. Yoga to improve flexibility and mind-body peace.
