The Dockside Dining Experience of King’s Fish House

Fish is a favorite dish for many San Diegans and makes up a main staple of weekend dining. Broiled, fried, baked, battered, and raw…it doesn’t seem to make much difference to people in the area. San Diegan livelihoods and history started from the sea and the area is known for its fresh seafood offerings-from line to frying pan type of existence.  King’s Fish House brings back some of that fishing tradition while offering a high quality dining experience unmet by competitive establishments.

They have five well designed locations in high traffic areas. The interior looks like a cross between a type of beach shack and a dock warehouse.  The walls are lined with eclectic signs, pictures, and other fishing items. The dining experience offers a unique environment with inside, patio, and covered outdoor seating. Plenty of tables and booths.

If you like your oysters raw you may consider the Oyster Sampler which comes with 6, 9 or 12 pieces. Looking for something more Midwestern? Order the Idaho Rainbow Trout Amandine made of lemon butter sauce and toasted almonds. A sandwich might be something similar to the Pacific Alabacore Tuna Melt with cheddar cheese.  The menu variety is large and contains just about everything a diverse family will desire.

Finding Great San Diego Restaurants with Coupon Sites

Frugality with money is part art-form and part research. San Diego hosts a substantial amount of outdoor activities, dining, boating events, concerts and more. The problem is that all of this costs money. If you don’t have a fat wallet and have more time than money you may want to check out some discount sites before making a dining reservation. Stretching your dollars can help you in the other areas of your life and a few moments of time are a wise choice.

Companies offer coupons and discounts to attract new customers. They hope that once the customers make their way into the restaurant for the first time they can be retained for future visits in addition to future revenue. A discount offer raises the incentives of purchasing a product and can be attractive to those who are considering a wide range of alternatives.

One advantage is that dining discounts directly appeal to those who like to go out and eat on a regular basis. It is a core demographic group that sees discounts as most appealing. The mentality is, “Well I’m going to go eat anyway so why not try this restaurant for 30% off?”  The discount becomes factored into their overall decision-making framework and this result in an affirmative choice.

The disadvantage of discount sites is that they often appeal to either the savvy deal shopper or the hard core food connoisseur.  Discount shoppers will seek only specials and deals before purchasing while food connoisseurs are unlikely to frequent the same restaurant many times unless it is a convenient choice when other options fail. Discounts in online sites are just one option in building a comprehensive marketing campaign.

Deal Catcher: The site offers discounts on various products, restaurants, events and activities. It hosts lots of great fitness classes that include boxing, biking, yoga, etc… for serious discounts.  http://www.dealcatcher.com/local/san-diego

San Diego Restaurants: The site offers discounts and coupons for various restaurants within the area. Most of the coupons can be printed and brought into the establishment. You may receive discounts on food, drinks, appetizers and more. http://www.sandiegorestaurants.com/coupons.cfm

The Goods: The goods offer discounts on dining and a few other items. There isn’t a lot of different stuff on the site but it is worth looking at a few of the coupons. You can text or print the coupon. http://www.thegoods.com/

San Diego Org: One of the best sites for finding activities and events in the San Diego area. The offers and coupons apply to food, lodging, whale watching and many other events. This is a good site to save for the weekends. http://www.sandiego.org/coupons.aspx

Restaurant: The site is by far one of the best selections in finding food and drink offerings in the area. You can purchase discount coupons that save you more than the cost. For example, $10 might get you $25 off with a purchase of $37 or more. http://www.restaurant.com/city-cuisine/sandiego-restaurants

Slick Deals: You can find almost anything on this site of which restaurants are one. This is a strong website to search out anytime you need a product or service. It will require you to purchase the item from the website. http://slickdeals.net

Peohe's the Premier Island Dining Experience

Peohe’s is a premier dining experience on Coronado Island. Known for their seafood and sushi they have made their way onto the Food Network. Coastal seating with great views of San Diego and the waterfront the restaurant attracts numerous visitors. You would be well advised to make reservations for the premium seats. Eating in the bar area is a little easier to obtain.

The restaurant is accessible from both land and sea (much like their menu) with boaters finding a comfortable place to park for a while. Seats are in semi-circle patterns to create a more private atmosphere. The lights are low which further highlights the bay and outdoors. There is plenty of shopping in the area so you may want to schedule extra time to browse.

The best deals are during their happy hour Monday thru Friday from 3:00-6:30 PM with $7 martinis, $6 cocktails, $5 glasses of wine, $4 imported bears and $3 domestics.  Outside  of the happy hour the prices are more normalized with the quality of the atmosphere. The average price per plate is around $33, appetizers $15, and wine around $10.

It is an upscale atmosphere with waterfalls, well arranged tables, sushi bar, and bay window seating. If you are seeking to take someone out on a date or hosting relatives from out of town this restaurant is probably for you. They will enjoy the atmosphere, shopping, and have a great view of San Diego.  Have a drink on the deck while you watch the boats!

Georges on the Cove-Terrace Dining Experience

George’s on the Cove offers a fine dining experience in the price range of $20 to $35 per person. As the evening ocean air makes its way up the cliff and the sounds of ruffling waves dash against the cove walls you can be dining in style. You won’t miss a single shooting star under the nighttime canopy on the third floor terrace.

George’s on the Cove has three levels which include the basement, mid floor and the upper deck. Both the upper deck and the mid floor areas have access to cove views. Each floor contains a bar and their own chef. If you don’t like the offerings on one floor you may consider checking the menu on one of the others. If you’re just looking for a place to drink wine you can sit in the plush cellar on the lower floor.

Lunch specials are $10 to $15 with items like the Mediterranean Grilled Vegetables for $14 made with hummus, tzatziki, house made pita. Evening dining ranges from $17 to $27 per person. You might want to try the Spaghetti with Clams for $20 made with toasted garlic, roasted tomatoes, white wine, and extra virgin olive oil. By-the-glass wine is within a few dollars of $10.

Spaghetti with Clams
The area is well serviced and even though it was very busy when we attended a table was promptly cleared. We made a special request to sit next to the railing to watch the ocean and that was promptly offered with a short delay. Food appeared to be well prepared and full of detailed flavor. An outside glass half-wall protected us from the wind while a heat lamp warmed the tabled. A definite destination for both locals and tourists.
